Sunrise and Sunset

When I'm with you
I wish time would stop.
It does in my mind,
but not in reality.

When I'm with you
birds sing and flowers bloom.
My eyes are aware of beauty.
My being is awakened by your sweet voice.

It is as if your very presence
causes a sunrise to take place.
You bring light into my life;
that and so much more.

With this light comes life
and a reviving wind;
an ever-smiling lover
and a soul to share.

Can I ever explain this to you?
Can I show you?
Maybe I don't need to.
Maybe you already know.

With every sunrise comes a sunset.
The sunset unfortunately comes to us.
Even though we try to wish it away,
it comes anyway.

Why does it have to come?
And always so soon.
Why does it have to end,
and why do we have to part?

I suppose we should take heart though.
A sunset always produces another sunrise.
Oh sweet sunrise,
Fall upon us again soon.
