Why do we promise each other eternity,
as if it was ours to give?
Why do we promise each other anything,
except who we are, to share?
Why is it not enough to just love one another?

Why do we make each other 
responsible for our happiness?
Why can I not enjoy your company 
and you, mine?
Why do we have to possess something 
in order to enjoy it?

Why do we have to pick a flower?
We take it from it's source of life,
only to admire it a while and throw it away.

Why do we have to possess things?
Why can't we accept them in their element?
Why must we be in control of everything?
Is it the nature of the beast to dominate?
Why not develop a softer side,
one that respects love in it's environment?
